Professional-grade film emulation plugin built on data & color science, not shortcuts.
Filmverse Lite is essentially a film emulation tool. However, the key component of Filmverse Lite is not a pretty halation effect or a fancy grain overlay. Instead, it's within a simple pipeline that takes your log image and transforms it for your display. This pipeline is commonly referred to as the Display Rendering Transform (DRT). FilmVerse Lite offers a non-linear approach to handling video signals that are typically - not so nicely - treated in a modern picture formation pipeline.
Beneath the picture formation chain, there is a stylized look combined with a straightforward matrix adjustment. This look is a modified version of the base look provided by FilmVerse Pro (Read about the Filmverse Project to know where I derive the origianl look from). By integrating key features that many seek in a quick look-building process into a single DCTL, FilmVerse Lite simplifies workflows and keeps the node tree tidy and your footage clean.
FilmVerse Lite is part of a larger research initiative about influence of film aesthetics on modern virtual looks, known as the FilmVerse project. I, Jai, started this project in response to an overwhelming wave of clever individuals and brands trying to sell the best "Film" look & not willing to dig deeper into what really creates a good picture.
