Preserve Mid-Grey addresses this by restoring the mid-grey value to its pre-emulation state while keeping the white and black points fixed. This ensures that the tonal midpoint is anchored correctly without compressing the dynamic range or flattening the picture. The restoration curve is applied in a way that reflects the cumulative effect of both the negative and print stock selections, not just the negative.
