Bleach Bypass

Bleach Bypass is a film processing method where the bleaching stage is skipped, resulting in a lower-saturation, higher-contrast image. It retains the silver in the film emulsion, which causes the final picture to have more contrast and a more subdued color response.

In Filmverse Arsenal, this control recreates the visual behavior of that process but in a more restrained manner. Traditional bleach bypass techniques—especially when digitally simulated—can lead to clipped highlights or crushed shadows. The version here is designed to reduce that extreme behavior. Instead of fully pushing highlights beyond recoverable limits or darkening shadows to the point of losing detail, this implementation moderates the response.

The goal is to give a bleach bypass effect that still maintains usable tonal information, allowing it to be applied earlier in the grade or as a stylistic layer without disrupting the structure of the picture.
